New appointment system from 2nd September 2024
From Monday the 2nd of September 2024 how we allocate GP and Advance Practitioner appointments is changing. As demand is increasing it's more important than ever that we allocate appointments based on clinical need. Therefore, however you contact us to request an appointment, by phone, in person, online or via the NHS app, all requests will go to a clinician to be traiged and we will then be in touch by your prefered method with the outcome.

Urgent Appointment
Urgent appointments are traiged by submitting our patient traige form via our webiste, option 2 on our telephone welcome message or via tyhe NHS app. You can also contact the surgery in the numbers below and speak with the reception team

Routine Appointment
To request a routine appointment:
- use our Patient Traige form on our website home page or via the NHS App
- Phone us Monday to Friday from 8am

- visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6:30pm
Please note that a routine appointment is for 10 minutes duration and is for one person and one medical condition. If you feel you may need longer please book a double appointment.
Patients arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be seen and will have to make another appointment.
Home visits
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.
To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice before 10am as possible.
Extended hours
Gateway Primary Care offers extended hours 3 mornings per week (Tuesday 7am to 8am Rosehill, Wednesday 7am to 8am Canklow, 6:30am to 8am Rosehill) These sessions are pre bookable appointments.
We also offer pre bookable appointment at evenings and weekends via our hubs which are based at Broom Lane, Kimberworth Park and Dalton Magna centre. (Weekdays 6:30pm to 8pm, Weekends 8am to 11am)

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery
- on a video call
- by text or email
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or Call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
